Manurewa Central School

Nau mai, haere mai ki tō tātou kura

For generations, Manurewa Central School has been a place of learning, belonging and possibility. Built on strong foundations shaped over many years, our kura carries a proud history of care, commitment and high expectations for every child. These foundations continue to guide us as we look forward, confident in who we are and excited about what lies ahead.

What makes our kura truly special is our people.

It is the collective strength of a passionate teaching team, a supportive and forward- thinking School Board, engaged and generous whānau, and our wonderful tamariki — whose curiosity, energy and individuality bring our school to life each day.

Together, we create a learning community where children are known, valued and encouraged to be the very best version of themselves.

Equity and excellence sit at the heart of all we do. We celebrate diversity and recognise it as a strength that enriches our learning spaces, our relationships and our shared vision.

Our learners are encouraged to believe in who they are, to dream boldly, and to develop the confidence, skills and dispositions they need to navigate both today and the future.

Our learner profile supports this growth, ensuring our children are well prepared for the world they will step into.

We proudly honour the heritage of our school, drawing confidence from our past as we continue to design meaningful, future-focused learning experiences. High expectations are evident across the curriculum and reflected in the wide range of opportunities available for all children.

Sport and cultural activities are an integral part of life at our kura, creating spaces where children connect, belong and succeed together. We place strong importance on language, culture and identity, and we are committed to growing understanding of the cultural heritages of the partners to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Our learning environments are welcoming, well resourced and designed to encourage active participation throughout the day. During break times, our children enjoy a wide variety of equipment and activities that promote active play, creativity, reflection and team work.

Strong partnerships between home and school are deeply valued.

We see learning as a shared journey and actively encourage whānau involvement, knowing that our tamariki thrive when we work together.

Our School Board plays a vital role in supporting a rich and balanced curriculum, including equitable access to digital technologies and learning opportunities beyond the classroom such as swimming and Garden to Table.

We continue to prioritise the implementation of the refreshed curriculums supported by ongoing professional learning that strengthens and extends the high-quality teaching already embedded across the school.

Our connection to the wider community further enriches learning, opening doors to experiences that support our children to grow as confident, capable individuals.

We look forward to working in partnership with you all as we begin another year of learning together in 2026.

“Ko te tamaiti te pūtake o te kaupapa.”

'The child is at the heart of all that we do.'
